Dora – another ‘proof’ that shows the indifference of Romanians

Dora is a puppy that was found my two of our volunteers during their holiday. They arrived to a vacation house and noticed that their neighbors had a female dog that was breastfeeding 5 puppies. In Romania caring for animals is in the end of the list with priorities, so the owner didn’t care that one of the puppies had a broken leg.

A two months old female dog was pulling her back leg; the fracture wasn’t new and started to weld apparently in an unusual position. When the owner was asked why did he let his dog to give birth while in that town there is a free neutering center, he replied that he wishes to have more dogs there so that ‘ people don’t come stilling anymore’. Then he was asked if he gives up to this puppy because she needs to be taken to the veterinary, he replied ‘ Do what you want’.
The puppy recovered and fortunately she didn’t need any surgery and now is walking normally. Her favorite job is playing with the house’s cats, and if a human gives her attention she is in heaven. The only thing Dora needs now is a house of her own, with a loving and responsible family.

If her story made you fall in love with her, please send us an e-mail at asociatia.robi@gmail.com
Dora is dewormed internally and externally and has her first vaccine.
Date of birth: June 2012
Dora was lucky she was rescued from her so called owner, but we are sure that there are a lot of other stories that don’t end well. A lot of owners let their animals breed, without taking any responsibility for the new lives that appear in their yard. Some don’t offer the basic care like food and water, and things like deworming, vaccines and veterinary treatments are in the category ‘ what is this?’ , ‘ I have never heard of such thing’ or ‘it is a luxury’ and ‘there is no need, I know better’. Unfortunately the price of people’s ignorance is paid by the animals, and this is why we need more drastic laws.
